Alejita Rodriguez

Director of Community Services (and the Spot)

Alejita Rodriguez is the Director of Community Services. Alejita is a graduate of Grand Valley State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and she earned a Master’s degree in the field of Social Work. For over 22 years, Alejita has been dedicated to helping youth realize that despite their past or current life circumstances, connections and opportunities exist to help them achieve success. Alejita started her career in northern Michigan where her compassion for young adults in need led her to educate and support youth preparing to transition from the foster care system.

Alejita’s move to the sunny state of Florida allowed her interest in program development and youth development to soar. As a former Life Skills trainer and Independent Living Services Director, Alejita recognized that her experience and education may have prepared her for the work she does for her community but it is the youth themselves that provide the daily reminder that there is much more to be done. As a mentor for youth, Alejita promotes advocacy by teaching youth how their voice is an instrumental tool in fighting for change. It is Alejita’s belief that youth are resilient and that resiliency can be cultivated into great achievements by offering Vita Nova’s innovative support and services to homeless and disconnected youth.
