While we all can agree that graduating from high school or college is one of the most rewarding milestones achieved in one’s life, sadly this is a goal not often attained by young adults who grow up in foster care.
On June 7, we had the pleasure of celebrating 46 graduates who reached that objective despite the odds being stacked against them. Vita Nova, along with several community partners, hosted the Foster Youth Graduation Achievement Celebration—an annual event to recognize those individuals who graduated from a high school, GED program, vocational/trade program, or college over the previous 12 months.
For the young adults who were recognized, the ceremony not only celebrates their accomplishment, but gives them an opportunity to share the excitement with their life coaches, case managers, mentors, and anyone else in their life who assisted in the process. Each graduate received a certificate, gift card, and a laptop to help them with their future studies. Congratulations Graduates, we are so proud of you!
Check out these amazing graduates.
